Migration Flows and Technology (IOM)

An analysis of the International Organization for Migration's Flow Monitoring Survey data on migration across West and Central Africa, and the role of digital technology in transnational migration.

Migration across West and Central Africa increasingly depends on mobile phones and digital services, which shape how people travel and stay in contact along the way. I analyzed the International Organization for Migration’s Flow Monitoring Survey data from that corridor during my time at the FXB Center, work that fed the IOM report “See Migration Like Water” (Digidiki, Bhatia, Peisch, Bhabha 2021) and a book chapter (Bhabha, Bhatia, Peisch 2021).
